Outdoor Therapy
Outdoor therapy, or walk and talk counselling, offers all the benefits of traditional talking therapy, with the added bonus of being outdoors and engaging in physical exercise (if you're able), all of which is proven to be beneficial for our mental health. It offers clients the chance to walk, or sit and talk without the confines of the traditional counselling room, which is why it can be beneficial for individuals who usually feel trapped or uncomfortable in a small room, or struggle with prolonged eye contact.
Working outdoors offers many sensory opportunities for grounding and mindfulness. It also offers you the space to move freely, whether that be by shaking, dancing or running, and the opportunity to scream, cry or yell, all of which can be healthy ways to express difficult emotions.
It is great for those who love nature or those who don't get to spend much time in the open air.
